  • Why we estimate a bill

    FPL provides bills based on actual meter readings more than 98 percent of the time. Occasionally, however, we must estimate your bill. Reasons for estimating bills include severe weather, locked entrances or security dogs. FPL will notify you of an estimated bill reading and will calculate the bill based on your usage history. If we estimate too high or too low, we will adjust the bill automatically at the next month’s reading. You can help us avoid having to estimate your bills by ensuring safe access to your meter.
