Who should use the FPL Friendly Reminder

FPL Friendly Reminder is available to all FPL customers, but it's especially helpful to individuals who

  • live alone and maintain their independence in the home
  • have language or reading difficulties or
  • are away from their home for an extended period of time.

Who can receive the Final Notice

You can name anyone who agrees to receive the notice on your behalf, such as a

  • relative
  • friend
  • caregiver
  • neighbor
  • clergyman
  • social worker or
  • trustee.

Responsibility of the person receiving the notice

The person who has agreed to receive a Final Notice for an FPL customer is responsible for

  • ensuring that the customer received and understood the Final Notice or
  • contacting the customer if he/she is out-of-town to settle the matter with FPL.

Important:

  • The person who receives the notice is under no obligation to pay the bill.
  • FPL incurs no liability if the selected person does not receive the FPL Friendly Reminder.

Notifying FPL of changes

The customer is responsible for notifying FPL if the address of either party has changed.

Closing your account

When a customer closes an account, if service and billing is resumed, the customer is responsible for notifying FPL of the person selected to receive the FPL Friendly Reminder.

Example: Seasonal residents who stop billing prior to leaving the area.
