Ways to Save in the Education Industry
Education AC & Lighting Programs
FPL will continue to offer programs that help your business save money
FPL is committed to helping schools and universities create the best possible environment for educating our future leaders. That means delivering reliable electricity service while providing information on how to cut energy costs. Florida schools can save money by reducing their AC and lighting system's electricity usage.
- Direct Expansion (DX) Air Conditioning -- Air conditioning costs are typically the largest part of an educational facility's energy bill. Upgrading your old system to a newer, more efficient cooling system can help offset these costs and lower your electric bill. FPL's DX Air Conditioning program rewards your commitment to trimming cooling costs through incentives on installation costs and incentives on electronically alternating motors.
- Chiller and Thermal Energy Storage (TES) programs allow you to replace an aging chiller with an energy-efficient model, which can lower operating and maintenance costs, increase energy savings and improve reliability. And while a TES system can cost more than an air conditioning system, it can save your business energy and money by allowing you to pay a lower time-of-use rate, reducing energy demand and eliminating the need to buy large A/C compressors to meet your cooling needs.
- The Business Lighting Program enables your business to recoup between 65 cents and $4 for each linear fluorescent light it replaces with energy efficient lamps. Plus, since energy efficient lighting is less costly to operate and improves light quality, you'll save even more on your electric bill. Additionally, schools can save money by installing occupancy sensors, timers and other devices that conserve electricity used for lighting.
Learn more about these energy saving programs by scheduling a Business Energy Evaluation. This free service evaluates your school's unique energy needs and offers tailored solutions that will help you conserve electricity.
