Business On Call Program: Stand by for Savings

FPL's Business On Call® program is an excellent way for your business to save energy and money ... at no cost to you and with virtually no impact on your business.

If you participate, FPL will occasionally cycle off your air conditioning system for brief periods of time, only when absolutely necessary. In return, you'll receive a credit on your monthly electric bill, even if we never cycle off your A/C equipment.

There are no out-of-pocket costs to participate in this program. And because your business air conditioner already cycles on and off during normal operation, the main difference you'll notice from On Call is getting paid for it! Open enrollment varies throughout the year.

Program specifics

Following is an overview of the Business On Call program:

Duration - The program runs April - October, when demand for electricity is high. During this period, your A/C may cycle off one time for 15 minutes per 30-minute period for no more than a 6 hour time period.*
Eligibility - Your A/C must normally operate between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., at least four days per week. If you have several units, all will be cycled except those units dedicated to temperature-sensitive equipment.
Expectation - Chances are your customers and employees won't even notice a difference in comfort. And all other electrical devices in your business will continue to operate normally.
Savings - You will receive a credit on your FPL electric bill for each of the seven months that the program is in effect (i.e., April - October).

* Note: During power system emergencies (e.g., extreme weather conditions and capacity shortages as determined by FPL), the cycle schedule and duration of the interruption may be extended.

Breaking down the savings

You will save $2 per ton, per month over the seven-month period that your A/C is On Call. For example, if you have a 5-ton A/C unit, you will save a total of $70 (i.e., 5 tons x $2 = $10 per month; $10 x 7 months = $70).

How to qualify

Participation in the Business On Call program is free and easy. Follow these steps to sign up:

1	Call the Business Care Center, and one of our representatives will determine if you are eligible** to enroll in the program.
2	Schedule a time for us to come to your business and install a small (about the size of a shoebox) energy management device on your A/C free of charge.
3	Sign-up and start enjoying the savings!

** Note: Centrifugal chillers and window air conditioning units are not eligible for this program. FPL has sole discretion in determining equipment eligibility.
