United Way

FPL partner since inception

The United Way seeks to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities. The United Way is committed to addressing key social issues, such as helping children and youth achieve their potential; promoting financial stability and independence; and improving people's health.

Since 2000, FPL and its employees have donated more than $22.8 million and countless hours of volunteer work to the United Way.

Salvation Army

FPL partner for 20 years

The Salvation Army offers social services to families in need or refers them to others who may be able to better assist.

The Salvation Army was selected to administer FPL’s Basic Needs Initiative. Since 2006, the Salvation Army has administered over $1.5 million in Care To Share funds for FPL families in need.

Loggerhead Marine
FPL partner for 20 years

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC), located in Palm Beach County, promotes the conservation of Florida's coastal ecosystem through education, research and sea turtle rehabilitation. The LMC campus houses aquariums, marine exhibits and live sea turtles recuperating in an outdoor hospital. FPL has donated $250,000 to construct the outdoor hospital and install an earth cam.

Edison Festival of Lights
FPL partner for 10 years

The Edison Festival of Light, hosted in the city of Fort Myers, honors and celebrates the life and the achievements of Thomas Alva Edison. The three-week festival includes community events such as parades, concerts, an arts and craft show, a 5k run, junior events, regional science and invention fairs, and the Discovery Village. FPL has contributed over $200,000 in donations and sponsorships.

Education Fund
FPL partner for 10 years

The Education Fund uses innovation in action for education while designing and implementing initiatives to improve our schools and bring excellence to public education in Miami-Dade County. FPL has contributed over $90,000 in donations and sponsorships.

JuniorAchievement
FPL partner for 8 years

Junior Achievement of South Florida inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy. Using practical teaching methods, students learn about business, entrepreneurship and personal finance. FPL has donated $250,000 to the construction of the JA World Huizenga Center.

The Junior Achievement World Huizenga Center consists of two main components – JA BizTown (5th grade) and JA Finance Park (8th grade). FPL will be represented in JA BizTown as the city’s utility company. Fifth graders will have the opportunity to live a day in the life of a “grown up.” FPL is proud to be a part of this truly life-changing, educational initiative that will serve 50,000 students in Broward and South Palm Beach County.

 

Camillus House
FPL partner for 2 years

Camillus House has a long history in the community. It’s mission is to end chronic homelessness in Miami Dade County

In 2008, FPL pledged $500,000 to Camillus House for their capital campaign to help build a new facility that will serve the homeless community in Miami.
