Florida Power & Light Company (FPL): Reliable Energy is Affordable Energy

New fuel-efficient, clean energy center to begin powering customers soonFPL continues to invest to modernize infrastructure to keep bills low and reliability high. To help pay for the new, fuel-efficient Cape Canaveral Next Generation Clean Energy Center, a base rate increase will take effect once the plant begins producing electricity in Spring 2013. At the same time, the customer fuel charge will decrease due to the plant’s advanced fuel efficiency.

FPL's Cape Canaveral Next Generation Clean Energy Center is in the final stages of construction and currently expected to begin providing fuel-efficient, clean energy to customers in Spring 2013. When the plant officially enters service, the base rate will increase and customer fuel charge will decrease. The net impact of these adjustments is expected to be $0.16 for a 1,000-kWh residential monthly bill.
