Who can participate in BuildSmart^TM?

The BuildSmart^TM program is available to:

• participating builders and
• owners building their own homes.

What are BuildSmart's general requirements?

All BuildSmart^TM participants must:

• comply with all national, state and local codes and ordinances
• pay applicable fees to FPL for performing the selected services
• provide information on each home to be certified, including
• floor, elevation and site plans and
• information needed to perform the Energy Performance Index calculations, and
• correct any deficiency identified through FPL inspections prior to BuildSmart^TM Certification of the home.

What are BuildSmart's requirements for builders?

Builders participating in the BuildSmart^TM program must:

• be the general building contractor
• enter into a BuildSmart^TM program contract with FPL
• covering the territory served by the builder and
• restricted by their building license.

What are BuildSmart's requirements for home owners?

Owners building their own homes must enter into a BuildSmart^TM single home contract with FPL covering the location of the proposed home.

FPL review

To ensure program compliance, FPL:

• reserves the right to verify each installation for which a BuildSmart^TM request has been submitted and
• is the final judge in determining if BuildSmart^TM program requirements have been met.

What are FPL's BuildSmart^TM contract terms?

FPL reserves the right to modify or terminate BuildSmart^TM program standards and procedures at any time with 10 days written notice to program participants.
