What are BuildSmartTM certification standards?
BuildSmartTM certifications are based on the energy efficiency rating produced by the current Florida Energy Efficiency Code for Building Construct Energy Performance Index (EPI) rating.
To qualify for BuildSmartTM certification, homes must achieve a minimum EPI rating of 90. The specific certification levels are shown in the table below.

What are BuildSmartTM program charges?
All BuildSmartTM program charges shall be reported in the Energy Conservation Cost Recovery True-up and Projections filings with schedules
BuildSmartTM program charges include but are not limited to
- payroll and benefits
- material and supplies
- outside services and
- advertising.
What technical specifications must be met?
Homes constructed to meet BuildSmartTM certification requirements must meet technical specifications in the following systems:
