SUBJECT: Indiantown Education Coalition Awards $5000 in Classroom Grants

From learning about American holidays and traditions to exploring the reaches of the solar system, the students of Indiantown have some exciting new learning resources in their classrooms. Thanks to the Indiantown Education Coalition Mini Grant program, the Coalition has awarded more than $5000 to fund a variety of creative educational projects which were developed by the teachers of Warfield Elementary School, Hope Rural School, Indiantown Middle School, South Fork High School, and the Indiantown Adult Learning Center.

An Indiantown Middle School student tackles a technology project funded through an Indiantown Education Coalition mini grant.

Indiantown Adult Learning Center
• Digital Camera and Printer to Produce Student ID Cards
• Real-life English Skills for the Non-English Speaking Student
• Science and Geography Curriculum for the Pre-GED Student
• Teen Parents Award Box / Attendance Incentive

Recently, the Indiantown Coalition hosted a luncheon at Manero’s of Palm City and raised more than $3400. The luncheon is one of many fund raising events hosted by the Coalition throughout the year to help support the group’s efforts. In the 2002-03 school year, the Coalition awarded more than $10,000 to fund classroom mini grants, scholarships, and to provide for the unique needs of Indiantown students.
The Indiantown Education Coalition is a dynamic collaboration of local business partners, educators, and community members who are united in their commitment to provide lifelong learning opportunities, and to improve the scope of available resources to the students and teachers of Indiantown.
