HUTCHINSON ISLAND, Fla. – Florida Power & Light Company’s Energy Encounter, located at the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant, will bring music and astronomy together with Space Songs on Family Sunday, March 18. The “Singing Astronomer,” Jon Bell, will use his songs as an effective, entertaining way to convey ideas and information about space.
“Everyone knows a space song,” says Bell, Indian River Community College Planetarium’s Director. “From the sky (Home on the Range) to the stars (Catch a Falling Star) to the moon (Bad Moon Rising), to the solar system (Blow the Dinosaur Down), participants of all ages will enjoy learning about the universe during this fun, sing-along program.”
Shows are planned for 11: 30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the energy center located on Hutchinson Island between Ft. Pierce and Stuart.
Before the program, visitors can take self-guided tours of the Energy Encounter which features 30 hands-on displays on energy, electricity, nuclear power and the environment. The center is designed for all ages. FPL will also open its College of Turtle Knowledge for visitors on this day.
