Taking Control: What You Can Do. How We Can Help

We’re encouraging all of our customers to take more control over your energy consumption by conserving energy. In fact, we offer numerous energy-efficiency programs, tips, tools and rebates that will give you more choices over how you use energy.

Key among these ideas are energy surveys to identify where you are spending your electricity and give you personalized recommendations to help you save, including rebates for energy efficiency upgrades and tips for low cost and no-cost ways to reduce the amount of electricity used at home and at work. Here are just a few ways you can act NOW to gain some control over your energy use:

• FPL’s Online Home Energy Survey and Business Energy Evaluation can provide your home or business, respectively, with an energy efficiency analysis tailored to your own situation. In both cases, you’ll receive specific recommendations on how to better manage your energy consumption.
• Because air conditioning alone can amount to more than half of our total energy consumption in the summer months, we offer an incentive to install high-efficiency cooling and heating systems for homes, and incentives also are offered for homes to increase ceiling insulation.
• We offer a monthly incentive for those customers who voluntarily choose to participate in a program that allows us to periodically cycle-off appliances such as pool pumps and water heaters for short periods during times of system-wide peak energy use. The program is called On-Call^®, and more than 700,000 FPL customers participate already.
• Additionally, to prevent major fluctuations in the electric bill, the FPL Budget Billing^® program evens out energy costs so you pay about the same each month.
