When shopping for new appliances, follow these simple steps to make sure you're getting the most for your money:

Step 1: Read the black-and-yellow Energy Guide label on the items you're considering.

This label is required on most major appliances and allows you to compare different models by

  • price
  • operating costs and
  • energy efficiencies.

Here is an example of an Energy Guide label, highlighting the key information you should look for when comparing various models. It's important to note that some guides may look different than this one, but all provide the same basic information to help you in your buying decision.
