Stovetop and Oven

Energy efficiency for your stovetop and oven is really determined by your cooking habits. So when shopping for a new unit, buy the model that suits your cooking needs.

However, there are some general tips for cooking efficiently, such as:

  • Cook with your toaster or microwave oven whenever possible. They're more energy-efficient than your oven and add less heat to your kitchen, which reduces the impact on your air conditioner.
  • Use the self-cleaning cycle on your oven only for major cleaning jobs, and start the cycle when the oven is already hot.
  • Plan oven cooking so that several items can be prepared at one time, at the same temperature
