Nuclear Safety

Safety provides the foundation for the operation of FPL nuclear power plants at:

  • Seabrook Station, in Seabrook, N.H. 
  • St. Lucie, near Fort Pierce, Fla.
  • Turkey Point, south of Miami
  • Duane Arnold, near Cedar Rapids, Iowa
  • Point Beach, in Two Rivers, Wis. 

   Monitoring and inspections

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, a federal government agency, monitors our operations closely. Daily inspections are conducted on-site at all of our nuclear plants to ensure compliance with federal regulations on public health, safety and the environment.

   Clean energy source

FPL's nuclear power plants are also a clean energy resource. Since nuclear power plants do not burn fossil fuel, there are virtually no air emissions, such as greenhouse gases, that may contribute to global warming.
