Line Clearing/Vegetation Management

Contractor crews trim trees along a main feeder line in Miami.FPL has adopted an aggressive plan for its line-clearing activities and continues to promote our Right Tree, Right Place program to strongly emphasize the importance of selecting the right kind of trees to plant and where to plant them.

We increased our line-clearing activities in 2006 and were able to complete 75 percent by the peak of the storm season. Power lines serving top critical infrastructure facilities were also cleared by May 31, prior to the start of the hurricane season. We plan to continue with this aggressive tree trimming program as we head into 2007, which also includes trimming our main power lines on a 3-year cycle and the smaller neighborhood lines on a 6-year cycle.
