Attracting and retaining employees can be one of the more challenging aspects of running a business, but cutting-edge benefits can help to provide a recruiting edge. FPL’s EVolution electric vehicle (EV) workplace charging program provides a unique perk for today’s sustainability minded workforce.
At FPL, we constantly analyze future trends and create forward-thinking programs to meet our customers’ evolving energy needs while delivering clean, reliable energy at rates that are among the lowest in the nation. That’s why we are focused on electric vehicles. In Florida alone, EV ownership has increased more than 300% since 2013, securing the Sunshine State the #2 spot for EV adoption. By 2030, one in every five vehicles purchased will be battery powered. Furthermore, employees are six times as likely to purchase an electric vehicle if their employer offers workplace charging.
With the FPL EVolution workplace charging program, FPL is partnering with local employers to provide EV charging equipment at no cost to the employer, including installation and maintenance. Employers cover the energy costs and provide charging as a perk to their employees. The partnership is for seven years, with an option to renew.
Employers across the state of Florida have joined the FPL EVolution workplace charging program. In Port St. Lucie, TC Palm and Treasure Coast Newspapers offer four workplace charging points at their St. Lucie West printing press and newsroom, available free of charge to employees and EV drivers in the area. “The idea to partner with FPL on the workplace charging stations was an investment in the future,” said editor and news director Adam Neal. “We wanted to show our commitment to the environment and our employees. We are and want to be known as a forward-thinking company.”
