Electrathon

Hands-on STEM learning where high school students design, build and race electric vehicles.

Learning STEM principles through Electrathon America

FPL is proud to support the expansion of Electrathon America across Florida. Participation in Electrathon America empowers students to apply classroom learning through creativity in a practical setting. The program encourages teamwork, problem-solving and critical thinking while sparking an interest in STEM careers.

“The cost of materials and tools can be roadblocks, preventing students from exploring a career path in these fields. Our support ensures those barriers are broken by providing interested high school teams with a build-your-own electric vehicle kit, training, as well as resources for car maintenance and race participation.”

-- FPL Project Manager Isabella Burckhardt

“I plan on studying biomedical engineering at USF. Engineering has always been something that's been a passion of mine, and Electrathon actually helped me decide that it was the career path I wanted to pursue”

-- Kiersten Bosse, 2026 Port Charlotte High School graduate
