• Should I leave my ceiling fan on to prevent mold when I'm gone for weeks or months?
  No — ceiling fans cool people, not rooms, so leaving them on while you're away is wasting energy. Use your A/C to manage humidity instead (set to 80–82°F with humidity under 60%) and consider a dehumidifier or smart thermostat for long trips.
• Is it more expensive to run the A/C during the day compared to at night?
  In summer, yes—it is hotter during the day so your A/C will have to work harder to keep your home cool. To save, keep blinds closed and use a programmable thermostat to reduce the strain on your system.
• How can I save money when getting a new A/C or HVAC system?
  Buy the right-sized unit for your home, seal air leaks, and schedule regular maintenance to keep it running efficiently. Choose a high-efficiency model with a good SEER rating and/or ENERGY STAR® certification, and work with a qualified contractor to get an instant rebate and long-term energy savings.

  Not quite—but you can get a $150 instant rebate if you plan ahead and work with a PIC. It’s a great way to save upfront, but the key is arranging it before installation.
• Can I save money by closing the air conditioning vents and doors of unused rooms? No — closing vents and doors can unbalance the system and reduce efficiency. Keep vents and doors open for proper airflow and performance.
• Should the A/C run in the ON position or the AUTO position?
  Use the AUTO setting—it only runs the fan when cooling is needed, which saves energy. The ON setting runs constantly and can lead to higher energy bills.
