When choosing a company to work for, Bryan Swindell jumped at the chance to work for Florida Power & Light.

As a veteran who served his country on active duty with the U.S. Air Force for four years, Bryan was looking for a company that shared his strong military values – integrity first, service before self and excellence in all we do. And, FPL was high on his list.

“In 2004, I joined FPL as a line specialist, after spending four years in the Air Force,” said Bryan. “I admired the fact that FPL was a company of integrity and committed to doing the right thing. Those two values represent what I stand for, and I wanted to be part of it.”

For years, Bryan served FPL using the skills he obtained in the Air Force. But, something was missing. In 2009, he re-enlisted in the Air Force Reserves. Within two months, Bryan found himself in Iraq.

“I wanted to give back to my country and FPL supported my decision. In fact, while in Iraq my colleagues sent me a care package, just another way to show me that FPL cared,” Bryan added.

After his deployment, Bryan returned to FPL and enrolled in Bismarck State College to earn a bachelor’s degree in energy management. Today, Bryan is part of FPL’s Power Delivery team that is responsible for operating and maintaining the system for energy distribution to commercial, industrial and residential customers, located in Sarasota. He remains committed to keeping your lights on – in good weather and bad.

“I feel privileged to work for a company like FPL that employs so many veterans of all branches of service, who have brought valuable life experience, as well as technical expertise they learned during their years in the military,” Bryan added.

Bryan continues to be a proud member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves.

FPL employs hundreds of veterans who have served our country and are now serving you. Without exception, the veterans provide our organization with discipline, creativity and technical expertise they developed during their years of service.
