STEM scholarships for high school students
Florida’s growing economy continues to need more skilled employees to meet workforce demands. To help, we’re offering scholarships to help students achieve their educational and career goals.
FPL Robotics Scholarship
Available to high school seniors within FPL’s service area who have participated in FIRST (For Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology ), VEX Robotics,or B.E.S.T(Boosting Engineering Science & Technology) Robotics Competition for two or more years.

- One scholarship totaling up to $20,000
- Award Details
- $5,000 per year, renewable for up to three years
- Academic Standing
- Graduating high senior
- Enrolled to attend a 4-year college/university full-time
- Pursuing a degree in a STEM-related field
- Demographics/Location
- Resides in FPL's service territory
- Program Participation
- Competed on a FIRST, VEX, or BEST Robotics team for a minimum of 2 years during high school
NextEra Energy Scholarship for Students in SECME
Available to high school students within FPL’s service area who have at least one year of experience in a SECME program. Learn More.

- Up to 10 renewable scholarships available for graduating high school seniors
- Open to students with at least one year of SECME participation
- Available in select Florida counties in FPL’s service area
- Award provides $5,000 per year, renewable for up to four years
- Total scholarship value of up to $20,000
- Must enroll full time at an accredited two- or four-year college or university
FPL Workforce Development Scholarships
FPL is committed to building a skilled and diverse workforce by investing in programs that empower students and young professionals to explore exciting careers in energy and STEM fields. New this year, three workforce development scholarships are available. Applications will open in the beginning of 2027.
FPL Drones in School Scholarship
The NextEra Energy Foundation offers one $5,000 scholarship for a graduating high school senior who has participated in the Drones in Schools program. Please see below for more information.

FPL proudly supports the Florida Department of Education's Bright Futures Scholarship program, helping high school students across the state achieve their higher education goals and build brighter futures.

The South Florida Fair Scholarship Program helps students pursue higher education by providing scholarship opportunities to support their academic goals. FPL is proud to sponsor this program, which assists eligible Florida high school students as they continue their education at an accredited college, university or trade school.

Florida Prepaid College Foundation Path to Prosperity Scholarship
The Path to Prosperity Scholarship helps eligible students take the next step after high school toward higher education and career success. Through a partnership between the Florida Prepaid College Foundation and The Florida Chamber Foundation, the program is part of a statewide effort to reduce childhood poverty by opening the door to higher education for deserving students. The scholarship is available to current high school juniors and seniors who reside in qualifying Path to Prosperity ZIP codes within FPL's service area, participate in an eligible community partner program, and plan to pursue a college, university, technical education, or military pathway.
