Energy usage data request: helping you reach your sustainability goals

Pilot program for City of Miami building owners only

Real Zero is our sustainability goal to completely eliminate our carbon emissions in Florida to the benefit of our customers, the environment and our state’s growing economy. We know our customers not only want affordable, reliable power, they also want the energy we deliver to be clean, now and in the future. We’re committed to reaching our sustainability goals—for our company, our customers and our community. We also are here to help encourage your energy efficiency improvements and sustainable business goals.

To help achieve its own sustainability goals, the City of Miami has established the Building Efficiency 305 Benchmarking Program.

Requirements to receive data from FPL

For buildings with five or more electric meters:

  • Requestor must be building owner or managing company and able to authenticate an active FPL Bill Account that is either in the building owners or managing company’s name
  • All other requestors would require a notarized Letter of Authorization

For buildings with fewer than five electric meters OR for buildings where one account comprises more than 50% of the electric usage:

  • Requestor must be owner or managing company of all meters in the building with an active FPL Bill Account on each meter,
  • Or, requestor has a notarized Letter of Authorization from each tenant

How to get started

Follow these three easy steps and get the data you need:

  1. Fill out the Energy Data Request form and Letter of Authorization form (if applicable).
  2. Download and fill out the Building Information Template.
  3. Email these forms to us at  Energy-DataRequest@fpl.com.

To comply with this new program, all building owners are required to report whole-building energy usage from the previous calendar year to help mitigate emissions of greenhouse gases. It is intended to allow a data-based approach to analyze future energy needs, improve future usages, eliminate waste, and reduce costs. For more information about this ordinance, visit Benchmark305.

Note, customers who are not part of our pilot program in the City of Miami will not receive aggregated data at this time. Our team is exploring development of a process to support other requests in the future, and we will communicate any updates with customers. In the meantime, building owners may view past usage on FPL.com or should request usage information directly from tenants.
