How it works

The Make-Ready Credit program provides financial incentives to help cover the “behind-the-scenes” electrical infrastructure needed to power EV charging stations. While you purchase and install your own charging equipment, we help with the costly electrical upgrades that make it all possible.

Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible for the program?

The program is open to qualifying customers in all areas served by FPL. You may participate if you’re installing:

  • Public DCFC (50 kW or greater)
  • Level 2 charging infrastructure for public locations, workplaces, fleets or multifamily dwelling.

As a reminder, funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and credits are no longer available once the budget is depleted.

What expenses qualify as “make-ready” costs?

Make-ready infrastructure may include the utility-side electrical work needed to safely support EV charging, such as:

  • Service lines, transformers, switchgear, conduits, wiring and trenching
  • Concrete pads and distribution facilities required for electrical service
  • Infrastructure improvements needed to enable safe EV charging

What costs are NOT covered?

The Make-Ready Credit Program does not cover:

  • EV charging stations or charging ports
  • Customer-side equipment
  • Ongoing maintenance costs

How much credit can I receive for DCFC installations?

Credit amounts depend on your charger’s nameplate capacity:

  • 50-149 kW: Up to $20,000 per port with a site cap of $120,000
  • 150-249 kW: Up to $30,000 per port with a site cap of $180,000
  • 250 kW or greater: Up to $50,000 per port with a site cap of $300,000

How much credit is available for level 2 charging?

Eligible level 2 installations (public, workplace, fleet and multifamily dwellings) may receive up to $1,200 per port.
