Building a cleaner energy future for all
An innovative idea, more than a decade in the making, Babcock Ranch is a town built and powered from the ground up by solar energy. From a universal solar-plus-storage system to innovative solar arrays in the downtown area, the future of this sustainable town shines bright.
A town powered by solar energy
Babcock Ranch donated more than 440 acres of land to help build the FPL Babcock Ranch Solar Energy Center. The solar power plant delivers energy to FPL’s grid, powering the residents of Babcock Ranch and beyond. FPL SolarNow™ trees in town also generate emissions-free solar energy, while serving as charging stations for residents to power mobile devices, laptops and more.
Largest solar-plus-storage system in the U.S.
Babcock Ranch is also home to an innovative solar-plus-storage system. One of the largest in the U.S., this battery storage system stores power generated by the FPL Babcock Ranch Solar Energy Center that can be delivered to the grid when needed, improving the predictability and reliability of solar energy.
