EV chargers come in different speeds, and the best choice depends on your daily habits and travel plans.
DC Fast Chargers
- Speed: The quickest option—typically charges an EV in about 30 minutes or less.
- Location: Often found near major highways and travel corridors.
- Best for: Long-distance travel or a swift recharge.
- Requirements: Needs commercial-grade equipment and 480-volt 3-phase power.
Level 2 Chargers
- Speed: Can fully charge most electric vehicles in several hours.
- Location: Commonly available in homes, workplaces, and various destinations.
- Best for: Locations where you'll be parked for an extended period.
- Requirements: Requires dedicated charging equipment and a 240-volt circuit.
Yes, to charge at any FPL EVolution station, you will need to download the FPL EVolution app, available to download on both Android and Apple iOS devices.

Public charging costs
FPL EVolution public fast chargers
- Billed at $0.30/kWh, plus applicable taxes and fees
- Effective total cost: $0.36–$0.37/kWh, depending on your taxing jurisdiction
Public level 2 chargers
- Generally free to use as an amenity provided by the site owner
- Some locations may charge a fee at the site owner’s discretion
Home charging costs
When charging at home without the FPL EVolution Home program, any EV charging will be part of your regular monthly bill at the normal residential rate.
When charging at home with the FPL EVolution Home program, you receive:
- Unlimited off-peak charging during nights, weekends and holidays
- A level 2 charger, professional installation, and ongoing maintenance
- No upfront costs
You may still charge during on-peak hours, billed at 23.71¢/kWh, in addition to the monthly program charges.
Enrollment for this program is open through Dec. 31, 2025. A new FPL EVolution Home Flexible Program will be available summer 2026.
