Understand the 10-year agreement, charger ownership, and what happens if your circumstances change.
Why is the original FPL EVolution Home agreement 10 years?
FPL EVolution Home is a 10-year agreement. The agreement is designed to help you avoid paying upfront for a charger and installation. Instead, the monthly program charge spreads those costs over the life of the agreement while also including ongoing maintenance.
The 10-year agreement is consistent with the charging equipment’s expected useful life and the PSC approved tariff. Throughout the agreement, program charges, fuel energy charges and non-fuel energy charges are reviewed periodically and subject to change based on regulatory approval.
Who owns the charger during and after the agreement?
During your 10-year agreement, the charger is owned and maintained by FPL. At the end of your agreement, ownership transfers to you at no additional cost.
Alternatively, after five years of participation, you can choose to purchase the equipment at a cost equivalent to the remaining value, which reflects normal use over time.
What happens to the original FPL EVolution Home agreement if I move?
If you move during your 10-year agreement, you may be able to transfer the program to your home’s buyer, transfer it to an eligible new home or end your agreement early.
Note: If you are enrolled in the original program (RS-1EV) and transfer to a new homeowner or new home, you will transition to the current program (RS-2EV), which includes per-kWh charges with a reduced energy cost during off-peak hours.
If you plan to transfer your agreement to a new home, contact Customer Service at least 20 days before your account closes to confirm eligibility and begin the transfer process.
What happens if I get a new EV during the original FPL EVolution Home agreement?
Purchasing or leasing a new EV during the agreement does not affect your participation in the program.
What happens if I end the original FPL EVolution Home agreement early?
If you need to end the agreement before the end of the 10 years, you will need to call the FPL EVolution Home Customer Care team with 30 days’ notice.
Because we provide the charger and eligible installation with no upfront payment, an early termination fee applies to reflect the remaining applicable equipment and installation costs. The fee starts at $1,068 and is reduced by approximately $5.57 for each month you’ve been in the program.
Alternatively, after five years of participation, you may also contact the FPL EVolution Home Customer Care team to purchase the equipment at a cost equivalent to the remaining value, which reflects normal use over time.
To begin the process of ending your agreement, contact the FPL EVolution Home Customer Care team at 833-919-0939.
Understand program costs, energy charges and how you’ll be billed.
How much does the original FPL EVolution Home program cost, and how am I charged?
The original FPL EVolution Home program includes a monthly program charge that covers your charger, installation, ongoing maintenance and unlimited off-peak charging. If you charge during on-peak hours, that electricity is billed separately per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
The current monthly program charge is $45 for full installations or $38 for equipment-only installations.
Cost | Full installation | Equipment-only |
Monthly program charge (includes unlimited off-peak charging) | $45/month | $38/month |
On-peak EV charging | Approx. 28¢/kWh | Approx. 28¢/kWh |
The on-peak charging rates apply only to electricity used by your FPL EVolution Home charger. The rest of your home’s electricity continues to be billed under your normal residential rate.
Will the original FPL EVolution Home program rates change if I stay?
If you remain on the original program, your total monthly charges will adjust annually – as approved by the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC). Fuel energy charges and non-fuel energy charges are also reviewed periodically and subject to change upon approval by the PSC. The most up-to-date rates are always posted online at www.FPL.com/Rates.

How do energy charges work for the original FPL EVolution Home program?

Who maintains and repairs the FPL EVolution Home charger?
FPL is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, replacing or relocating the Level 2 charger during the agreement. Relocation services are subject to applicable transfer fees.
Repairs and replacements will be made by an FPL certified electrician for operational issues with the charger, but not for damage caused by misuse or modification of the charging equipment.
Why do I need the FPL EVolution app for home charging?
The FPL EVolution app is required to activate your charger and helps you manage your home charging experience. You can use it to:
Be sure to enable push notifications, add your vehicle's make and model in the app and keep your charger connected to Wi-Fi. A stable Wi-Fi connection is necessary to ensure accurate usage readings for billing and supports the best possible charging experience. If the charger disconnects from Wi-Fi, usage data may not be received, which could impact billing accuracy.
Download the FPL EVolution app on iOS and Android devices.
How does off-peak charging work for the original FPL EVolution Home program?
Your FPL EVolution Home charger is automatically configured to charge during unlimited off-peak hours, so there's no need to wait until a specific time to plug in your vehicle. Simply plug in when it's convenient, and your charger will begin charging during the next scheduled off-peak period.
If you need to charge immediately, you can temporarily override the default off-peak schedule using the FPL EVolution app. Electricity used during on-peak hours is billed at the applicable on-peak rate. Once you’ve finished charging, remember to turn Off-Peak Only back on to continue taking advantage of the reduced energy cost during off-peak hours.

Why can’t I see daily or hourly energy usage in Energy Manager if I’m enrolled in the original FPL EVolution Home program?
Daily and hourly Energy Manager views are not available to customers enrolled in the original program. You can still view your EV charger’s energy usage in the Meter Summary section of your monthly bill and in the FPL EVolution app.
As a participant in the original program, you are under a different rate code that allows FPL to monitor and bill for off-peak charging. Because of the different rate code and a dedicated EV charging submeter, daily and hourly views of energy usage are currently unavailable.
