FPL Care To Share® Donation Program
FPL knows that some customers may be experiencing financial hardships. Fortunately, by donating to the FPL Care To Share Program®, you can help those in need.
This program is designed to provide emergency assistance funds to customers in a crisis situation who are unable to pay their electric bill. It's funded by FPL corporate contributions, FPL employee donations and customer contributions, and administered by local nonprofit and/or government agencies. Since the program was founded in 1994, more than $11.4 million (through year-end 2008) has been raised, and almost 55,000 Florida families have received assistance. In 2009, for the fourth straight year, FPL donated $1 million to the program.
Why donate?
Could you live without electricity? Of course not. But for people on limited incomes, this is a real possibility. When you donate to FPL's Care To Share program, you make a difference – helping customers who are in crisis and unable to pay their electric bill.
Plus, your FPL Care To Share program contributions may be tax-deductible. (See your tax advisor for details.)
You’ll receive a letter at the beginning of each year summarizing your total contributions for the previous year. Customer contributions are matched in part by annual FPL corporate contributions. These supplement federal, state and local public resources for emergency-assistance funding.

Funds and contributions
Money donated to the FPL Care to Share program stays in the community. All contributions are collected by FPL, through a partnership network of nonprofit human-services agencies. These organizations, including the Salvation Army and others, administer energy-assistance funding. There are no administrative fees, so all contributions go to the needy for energy assistance.
