Types of Temporary Electric Service

  1. TEMP – (Temporary for Construction) FPL will install a temporary electric meter from an overhead or underground source location.
  • Overhead - FPL will install a service drop to your temporary service pole located within 65 feet of an existing power pole, and remove the service upon your request. The fee for this option is $145.
  • Underground - FPL will connect your service cable to an existing underground electric source and disconnect the service upon your request. The fee for this option is $110.
  1. TUG – (Temporary Underground)
  • FPL will install the temporary underground electric service to the permanent meter early in the construction process. FPL installs the permanent underground service to the meter can, and this service is used for construction purposes. Contact your local Project Manager for fees.
  1. TOH or TOP – (Temporary Overhead)
  • FPL will install the temporary overhead electric service to the permanent meter or to a pole close to the permanent meter location. This requires you to install a service pole within 10 feet of the permanent service location in such a way that FPL can transfer the service drop to the permanent location upon completion of construction. The reduced fee for this option is $95.
  • FPL can also install the temporary overhead electric service to the permanent meter early in the construction process. FPL will install the permanent overhead service to the weatherhead and install the meter. This service is used for construction purposes. There is no fee for this option.

 

Removing Temporary Electric Service

You can close your temporary construction service account(s) by calling the customer service number listed on your bill.

*Note: As with all electric installations, an inspection by the local municipality is required prior to FPL supplying temporary or permanent electric service.

Temporary electric service may not be readily available in your area and is provided at FPL’s discretion. Contact your Project Manager regarding availability, specific fee information and the best available options for three phase temporary electric service before any installation.
