How it works

Stage

Description

When you sign up

You will select the automatic withdrawal date from the qualifying period.

FPL Automatic Bill Pay will begin

With your next bill that states "Do Not Pay." Any current balance will need to be paid using your current payment method.

Your monthly electric bill will state the

  • bill amount and
  • payment withdrawal date from your bank account.

Qualifying period

You choose from 11-20 days after the bill is issued. For example, if your bill is issued June 10 and you select 11 days, then your payment would be made June 21.

How you know when you are enrolled

FPL will confirm your enrollment with

  • a next-day confirmation e-mail
  • a letter welcoming you to the program and
  • a message on your bill.

Questions about a bill

If you have questions about a bill, call the customer service phone number located in the bottom right-hand corner of your bill, or select a local number from the Contact Us menu.

FPL will review the bill with you and ensure that the payment is not made until your questions have been answered

What happens if your account has insufficient funds

If there are insufficient funds in your bank account on the withdrawal date, your bank will return the automatic payment. Then, just like having a check returned for insufficient funds, both your bank and FPL may charge you a service fee - $23.24 or 5 percent of the check amount, whichever is greater.

Combining FPL Automatic Bill Pay with bill management options

Now you have the flexibility of combining FPL Automatic Bill Pay with FPL bill management options. For example, you can combine FPL Automatic Bill Pay with these options:

  • FPL E-Mail Bill allows you to receive and review your FPL bill online. It is as easy as getting an e-mail.
