Components used to calculate your FPL Budget Billing
Three components
are used to calculate your Budget Bill amount, including your
Actual Bill - the actual kilowatt-hours used for the
current month at your address
Average Bill - the last 12 months' actual bills for your address
(including the current month) divided by 12.
Deferred Balance - the difference between the actual bill and the
average bill for the current month. The deferred balance is
placed in your Deferred Balance account each month. It is shown on your
monthly bill as your Budget Bill Deferred Balance and can be
a credit or a debit.
How FPL Budget Billing is calculated
Each month 1/12 of your Budget Bill Deferred Balance account
is added to (or subtracted from, if it is a credit) the average
bill,
and this becomes your current Budget Bill — the
amount you will be asked to pay each month.
Note: Since the Budget Bills are recalculated
monthly, the bills will vary slightly from month to month.
Are accounts ever reviewed at the end of 12 months or adjusted annually (also known as "trued up")?
FPL Budget Billing accounts
will only have to be "trued up" when
you close your account or
you discontinue FPL Budget Billing or
FPL Budget Billing is discontinued because of a past due bill.
Note: It is very important to keep your account
current to remain in this program.

Discontinue FPL Budget Billing
If you are not satisfied with FPL Budget Billing, you may discontinue
it at any time. However, your deferred balance will be added to your next month's bill, which could be a credit or debit depending on the time of year. Overall, we do suggest you stay on FPL Budget
Billing for at least 12 months to understand the true benefit.
Note: It is important to be aware that there
is a waiting period of 12 months to rejoin the program.
