Find help resolving common charging issues with your FPL EVolution Home charger.
In many cases, your charger is operating normally, and your vehicle has paused charging based on its own settings or battery status. Charging may stop if:
In these cases, your FPL EVolution app may display the message: "Charging is currently paused by the vehicle. This may be due to a charging schedule, charge limit, or a fully charged battery."
To troubleshoot, follow the steps below in order.
1. Check your vehicle settings. Confirm that:
a. Your vehicle is not already fully charged.
b. A charge limit (such as 80% or 90%) has not been reached.
c. No charging schedule is enabled within your vehicle.
d. Your vehicle has not displayed a notification indicating charging was intentionally paused or completed.
e. Your vehicle’s software is up to date.
If charging resumes after completing the steps, no additional troubleshooting is required. If you’re still experiencing an issue, follow the steps below.
2. Restart your charger.

Charging speed can vary based on several factors and does not always indicate a problem with your charger. Common factors that affect charging speed include:
For more information about your vehicle’s charging characteristics, refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
Your charger’s maximum charging speed depends on the circuit breaker installed for your charger. You can identify your breaker rating by checking:
| Breaker rating | Charger output | Maximum charging speed |
| 20 amp | 16 amp | 3.8 kW |
| 30 amp | 24 amp | 5.7 kW |
| 40 amp | 32 amp | 7.6 kW |
| 50 amp | 40 amp | 9.6 kW |
| 60 amp | 48 amp | 11.5 kW |
For safety, electrical code requires the circuit breaker to be rated higher than the charger’s maximum output. This is why your breaker rating will always be greater than your charger’s amperage.
For full installations, we install the largest breaker your home’s available electrical capacity can support. For equipment-only installations, your charger’s output is matched to your home’s existing breaker.
Your charger’s LED lights communicate its current status. Most light colors indicate normal operation, while others may require troubleshooting or support.
