Frequently asked questions

Why has the SolarNow program concluded?

SolarNow was approved by the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) through Dec. 31, 2025.

How did the SolarNow program support solar energy in Florida?

SolarNow participants’ monthly voluntary contributions helped bring solar energy projects to local communities. With over 100 solar trees and solar canopies installed in more than 70 locations across the state, including parks, museums and zoos, these innovative structures use Florida’s sunshine to generate energy and provide power to the grid.

Will existing SolarNow projects remain operational?

Each solar project is carefully managed in agreement with its local host site. While some solar installations may change over time, we remain committed to maximizing their benefits to both the community and their host sites.

How will the program ending affect my participation in SolarNow?

All SolarNow participants have been automatically unenrolled from SolarNow as of December 31, 2025.

You can continue to support solar energy and earn bill credits that can help you save on your monthly bill over time, by participating in our FPL Solar Together® program.

What is SolarTogether?

FPL SolarTogether is a voluntary community solar program that makes going solar easy for everyone – without the hassle and upfront costs of installing panels on your roof. Simply subscribe to the program at a level that fits your budget and benefit from solar energy produced at our large-scale energy centers across Florida to earn bill credits that can help you save on your monthly bill over time.

How is SolarTogether different from SolarNow?

The SolarNow program enabled participating customers to support solar energy in Florida by helping bring small solar installations including canopies, walkways and trees, to local communities throughout Florida.

FPL SolarTogether is a voluntary community solar program that lets you support solar energy in Florida in a way that fits your budget, while also earning monthly bill credits that can help lower your bill over time. There are no upfront costs, no equipment to install, and no need for rooftop panels. Instead, you’ll enjoy the environmental and financial benefits of large-scale energy centers across Florida.

How does SolarTogether work?

Eligible customers can join the SolarTogether program regardless of whether they rent or own their home or business, or if they live in an apartment or condo complex. This voluntary subscription program allows participants to receive up to 100% of their annual energy usage from FPL’s universal solar energy centers.

Is there a cost difference between SolarNow and SolarTogether?

Yes. SolarNow included a $9 monthly contribution.

SolarTogether works differently. You choose the number of kilowatts (kW) you would like to subscribe to that fits your budget. Each kW costs $6.76 per month.

You can subscribe to as little as 1 kW or enough to cover up to 100% of your energy use. In return, you’ll start receiving bill credits based on how much solar energy your subscription produces.
