Frequently asked questions

When is On Call typically activated?

This program is typically not activated at night, on weekends or during holidays. Historically, it has been implemented a few times per year in early to late afternoons on weekdays.

Who will install my On Call equipment?

An FPL-approved and licensed electrical contractor will install your property’s On Call devices. Once your property has been enrolled, we will work with you to schedule your installation appointment. Depending on the location of your equipment, the contractor may need to access individual units for installation.

What is the size of the On Call energy device?

The On Call device is a small, rectangular box that is approximately 7” x 3.5” x 8".

Where will the On Call device be installed?

The On Call device will be installed next to your enrolled appliances.

When will my residents and I start seeing credits on our bills?

It takes about 2-3 weeks after installation for the On Call device to be enrolled. At that time, your residents’ credits will begin. If any of your units are unoccupied, your property will begin receiving bill credits at the same time.

Why is my bill credit lower than expected?

If your appliance(s) have not been on the program for a  full month, or in the event of low premise energy consumption, an adjusted credit will appear on your bill.

1 The self-enrollment questions help determine your eligibility for On Call. If you’re a renter, you’ll need your landlord’s approval to enroll in the program. If you’re unable to schedule an appointment, On Call may not be offered in your area just yet – but we’re working on it.

2 Typically, the program is only activated during times of high energy usage or emergency situations. On Call credits are dependent on the appliances enrolled being approved by FPL or the contractor; maximum annual savings is $73.75.

This program may be modified or canceled without notice. You may cancel at any time by giving us a call. Customers that discontinue must wait one year to re-enroll. During system emergencies (e.g. extreme weather conditions and capacity shortages as determined by FPL), On Call may be activated for extended periods of time, which may exceed your enrollment agreement.
