*Credit is subject to funding availability.
There are two ways to get started. If you have received assistance such as Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP) or FPL Care to Share in the past 12 months, you can continue directly to Step 4 to complete the energy-saving walkthrough. If you have not received any type of assistance in the last 12 months, you will need to verify your household income with our agency partner.
Use the ALICE Calculator on the United Way website. Select your state and county, enter your household income and size to see if you are at or below the ALICE threshold to be eligible for FPL Saving Steps. If you find your household is above the ALICE threshold for your county, we do have other resources designed to help you save.
Once you confirm your household qualifies using the ALICE calculator, you will need to complete our informational video series and verify your income online with our agency partner, The Salvation Army.
Be sure to have your income verification documentation.
Watch short videos to learn ways to save on your bill, then answer a few simple questions to check your understanding. After watching the videos, fill out the application below as your final step. If the video series does not start, click here.
If you HAVE received LIHEAP, EHEAP or FPL Care To Share assistance in the past 12 months, complete the application below and we’ll verify your eligibility. If your account qualifies, you’ll receive confirmation within 60 days once the $200 bill credit has been applied.
If you HAVE NOT received LIHEAP, EHEAP or FPL Care To Share assistance in the past 12 months, this form WILL NOT provide the credit. To qualify, please complete the Saving Steps video series and verify your income first. You can start the process here.
FPL Saving Steps one-time bill credit may take up to 90 days for your credit to appear on your account. If you require immediate assistance with your bill, emergency help is available
When you apply through our trusted partner, The Salvation Army, you’ll need to provide documentation that verifies your income. This ensures the program reaches families who truly qualify under ALICE guidelines. This documentation can include any of the following:
Use the ALICE Calculator on the United Way website to quickly check if your income and household size qualify. Enter your household details and county. If you see “this household is an ALICE household,” you’re eligible.
If you are above the ALICE threshold, there are still other programs that might help you save. Check out other savings options.
Upon completion of the saving walkthrough, you will be eligible to proceed to the next step, which involves verifying your income with our community partner, the Salvation Army. You will need to make sure to register with the Salvation Army using the same email and zip code used during the saving walkthrough to see the FPL Saving Steps option.
Income verification times can vary, but most applications are processed within 30 days by the Salvation Army. Notification regarding the status of your application will be provided to you directly by the Salvation Army. FPL will only be informed once your income has been verified to meet ALICE criteria.
Once your income is confirmed, FPL will review your account to make sure you meet eligibility requirements. Within 60 days, you will receive approval confirmation, and the credit will be applied to your account. Altogether, receiving your credit may take up to 90 days.
