How it works

If you’re reading this before your scheduled withdrawal date and received a Budget Billing sign-up offer on this month’s bill, you can enroll today to start participating in the program immediately. Once enrolled, Automatic Bill Pay will withdraw the Budget Billing amount this month instead of your regular electric bill amount. The difference between our electric bill amount and Budget Billing amount will be automatically placed in your deferred balance. To learn more about deferred balance or how Budget Billing works, you can visit our FPL Budget Billing page.

Please keep in mind, your enrollment serves as authorization to withdraw the lower amount and acknowledgment that you will not receive additional notifications before withdrawing the lower amount.

Straightforward & free

Did we mention this program is free? That’s right, free. Simply enroll in Budget Billing, and we’ll continue to handle the rest. We encourage you to stay on the program for at least one year to take full advantage of its benefits and to avoid paying a high deferred balance. There is no annual "true-up" period with FPL Budget Billing unless you close your account, you discontinue the program, or FPL Budget Billing is discontinued because of a past-due bill.

When this occurs, the deferred amount will either be debited or credited depending on the balance amount at the time the program is discontinued.*
