Review information about lighting access requirements, potential service impacts, and options to upgrade.
A fixture is considered accessible when a technician can safely reach it using standard equipment, including truck access via a paved surface, without obstruction from overgrown vegetation, locked gates, structural barriers or other hazards. FPL does not trim trees or other vegetation to facilitate access.
Outdoor lighting agreements require that fixtures be installed in locations that are easily and economically accessible to FPL equipment and personnel. This requirement is part of the terms under which FPL provides outdoor lighting service.
Line crews and lighting contractors use different methods and equipment depending on the type of work being performed. Servicing a transformer and replacing an outdoor light fixture are different tasks with different equipment, weight and safety requirements. A location that can be accessed for one type of work may not be accessible for another.
