3 tips for A/C efficiency:

1.  What temperature should I set my thermostat to?

• Set your thermostat to a comfortable temperature between 75°-78°F when you're home. When you're away, increase the temperature to around 82°F.

2. AUTO or ON?

• In “AUTO” mode, the fan runs only during the cooling cycles and turns off once the desired temperature is reached. This is more energy-efficient and can save you money.
• Keeping the fan constantly in “ON” mode can cost more and wear out the fan faster.

Did you know? If your air conditioner normally cycles off 30% of the time on AUTO, switching to ON can make the fan run over 200 extra hours a month. This not only increases cooling costs but also wears out the fan faster.

3. A/C reminders:

• Keep vents open: Closing vents can make your system work harder, using more energy.
• Maintain your A/C unit: Regular maintenance or upgrading to an energy-efficient model can improve performance.
• Consider a smart thermostat: These can adjust the temperature based on your schedule, saving energy even when you’re not home.
• Fans cool people, not rooms: Save $7 a month by turning fans off when you leave a room.
