Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible to participate in the residential charging subscription?

Eligible participants must:

  • Own a single-family home or townhouse with attached garage.
  • Have a strong Wi-Fi signal in the charging location.
  • Have an active residential account in good standing with no past due bills or payment extensions.

Additional reasons customers may not qualify for the program include:

  • Have a pending connect or disconnect order.
  • Account belongs to a business or is tax-exempt.
  • Residence does not use a smart meter.
  • Account is dedicated to a source other than the primary residence, like a lighting system or well.

What if I already have a charger?

If you have the required 240-volt circuit in your garage, you may choose the equipment-only installation and we will provide the charging equipment, charger setup up and hardwiring. The program is only available with the use of the FPL EVolution Home charger, and you will not be able to use existing charging equipment. If you do not have the required circuit, you would need to either have it installed or we will install it as part of a full installation.

What does the new FPL EVolution Home Flexible Program include?

The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) approved rates for a new FPL EVolution Home Flexible Program – coming summer 2026.

Here’s what the Flexible Program offers:

  • Pricing that better reflects how you charge: A lower fixed monthly charge and time-of-use energy charges, including a discounted off-peak rate
  • The same great service: The same reliable charger and service you enjoy today

What happens if I’m an existing FPL EVolution Home customer?

The current program continues through December 2029, with annual rate increases approved by the PSC. Note: Rates are only set through 2029 – at which time, the PSC will consider new rates to be effective in 2030.

Beginning summer 2026, you’ll have the option to switch to the new FPL EVolution Home Flexible Program, which offers:

  • A lower fixed monthly charge, plus
  • Time-of-use energy charges, including a discounted off-peak rate

Your actual savings will depend on how much you drive and when you charge.

No matter which option you choose, your service will continue without interruption – and you’ll keep the same reliable charger and high-quality support you’ve come to expect.

What does the program cost?

The Flexible Program includes a fixed monthly charge plus time-of-use energy charges. Your total cost will vary based on how much – and when – you charge.

Fixed monthly charges in 2026:

  • $36 for full installation
  • $27 for equipment-only installation)

Non-fuel energy charges (per kWh):

  • 2026: 2.016¢ off-peak and 22.583¢ on-peak
  • 2027: 2.143¢ off-peak and 24.036¢ on-peak

Note: Rates are only set through December 31, 2029 – at which time, the PSC will consider new rates to be effective in 2030. FPL is regulated by the PSC – both electric and FPL EVolution charging rates are set every few years and will adjusted subject to PSC approval.

If I’m part of FPL EVolution Home, will I pay less for power during off-peak hours?

When you calculate your total monthly energy usage and consider your typical driving habits, you’ll receive a lower average rate with FPL EVolution Home than you would without the program, due to the discounted rate for charging during off-peak hours.

**The full installation program requires the 240-volt circuit be installed within 10 feet of the electrical panel.

Disclaimer – Throughout the course of each day, the demand for electricity moves up and down. During “peak” demand periods – such as summer afternoons when air-conditioning usage is high, for example – the cost of generating electricity is more expensive. There are also daily “off-peak” periods when electricity usage is lower, making the cost of producing electricity less expensive. System installation may take approximately 4-6 weeks after enrollment and will be subject to permit issuance times by your local building department as well as the approval by your homeowner’s association (if required).
