Understanding your agreement

We want you to understand what’s included, what you’ll pay and your options before you enroll.

FPL EVolution Home is a 10-year agreement — not a month-to-month plan — designed to help you avoid paying upfront for a home charging solution. Instead, your monthly program charge covers the cost of the charger, installation and ongoing maintenance throughout your agreement.

During your agreement:

  • No upfront costs for the charger or eligible installation
  • Monthly program charge of $36 (full installation) or $27 (equipment-only installation), plus separately billed EV energy usage
  • Eligible charger maintenance, repairs, replacements and software updates included
  • You are responsible for maintaining a strong and stable Wi-Fi connection
  • You are responsible for loss or damage to the charger caused by weather, misuse or negligence
  • Ownership of the charger transfers to you after completing the agreement
  • Program rates and terms are regulated by the Florida Public Service Commission and are subject to change with their approval

Ending your agreement early

You may terminate your agreement with 30-day written notice. An early termination fee and a $50 administrative fee apply.

The early termination fee reflects the remaining applicable charger and installation costs, and decreases for each month you remain in the program:

  • Full installations: Starts at $1,851 and decreases by approximately $15.43 for each month you have been in the program.
  • Equipment-only installation: Starts at $1,204 and decreases by approximately $10.03 for each month you have been in the program.

You may keep the charger after early termination and payment of applicable fees.

Moving?

Moving doesn’t necessarily mean your program has to end. Depending on your situation, you may be able to:

  • Transfer the program to the buyer of your current home and pay the administrative fee
  • Transfer your program to an eligible new home and pay the transfer and administrative fees
  • Terminate the program early and pay the termination and administrative fees

Program costs

Your monthly program charges are broken down into three components: The monthly program charges, non-fuel energy charge and fuel charge. You can take advantage of lower rates by charging during off-peak hours.

Monthly program charges cover the cost of the charger, installation and ongoing maintenance throughout your agreement, and depends on your installation type:

  • Full installation: $36/month
  • Equipment-only: $27/month

Monthly EV fuel and non-fuel energy charges are based on your FPL region and may look different on your bill. These include base rates, the cost of fuel required to provide each kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity and the costs to produce and deliver electricity, including operating power plants and maintaining the electric grid.

  • Off-peak: Approximately 7¢/kWh
  • On-peak: Approximately 28¢/kWh

Use our bill resources to view sample bills and your full bill breakdown by region.

Note: The flat monthly program charges of $27 for equipment-only installations and $36 for full installations were approved by the Florida Public Service Commission in 2025, and it is not expected to change any sooner than January 1, 2030; however, the rate you pay per kilowatt-hour of charging is typically adjusted at least once a year to reflect FPL’s actual expenses to fuel power plants, provide energy conservation programs and other costs that are reviewed annually by state regulators. The most up-to-date rates are always posted online at www.FPL.com/Rates. Review the program Terms & Conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible to participate?

Eligible participants must:

  • Own a single-family home or townhouse with attached garage.
  • Have a strong Wi-Fi signal in the charging location.
  • Have an active residential account in good standing with no past due bills or payment extensions.

Additional reasons customers may not qualify for the program include:

  • Have a pending connect or disconnect order.
  • Account belongs to a business or is tax-exempt.
  • Residence does not use a smart meter.
  • Residence is enrolled in a Time of Use (TOU) rate.
  • Residence participates in net metering.
  • Account is dedicated to a source other than the primary residence, like a lighting system or well.

Can I participate if I am a solar net metered customer?

At this time, net metering customers are not eligible to participate in the FPL EVolution Home program due to equipment compatibility requirements.

What if I already have a charger?

If you have the required 240-volt circuit in your garage, you may choose the equipment-only installation and we will provide the charging equipment, charger setup up and hardwiring. The program is only available with the use of the FPL EVolution Home charger, and you will not be able to use existing charging equipment. If you do not have the required circuit, you would need to either have it installed or we will install it as part of a full installation.

Why is the agreement 10 years?

FPL EVolution Home is designed to help you avoid paying upfront for a home charger and eligible installation. Instead, your monthly program charge covers the charger, installation and ongoing maintenance throughout your 10-year agreement.

If you choose to leave the program early, an early termination fee applies to reflect the remaining applicable equipment and installation costs. The fee decreases each month you stay in the program.

Can I end my agreement early?

Yes. You may end your agreement before the end of the 10 years with 30-day written notice.

Because we provide the charger and eligible installation with no upfront payment, an early termination fee applies to reflect the remaining applicable equipment and installation costs.

  • Full installation: Starts at $1,851 and decreases by approximately $15.43 each month
  • Equipment-only: Starts at $1,204 and decreases by approximately $10.03 each month
  • A $50 administrative fee also applies

You may keep the charger after paying applicable fees.

What happens if I move during my 10-year agreement?

Moving doesn’t necessarily mean your FPL EVolution Home agreement has to end. Depending on your situation, you may be able to:

  • Transfer the program to the buyer of your current home and pay the administrative fee
  • Transfer your program to an eligible new home and pay the transfer and administrative fees
  • Terminate the program early and pay the termination and administrative fees

If you plan to transfer your agreement to a new home, contact Customer Service at least 20 days before your account closes to confirm eligibility and begin the transfer process.

If I’m part of FPL EVolution Home, will I pay less for power during off-peak hours?

When you calculate your total monthly energy usage and consider your typical driving habits, you’ll receive a lower average rate with FPL EVolution Home than you would without the program, due to the lower rate for charging during off-peak hours.

How do I test the strength of my Wi-Fi signal for the electrical assessment?

Please use the Wi-Fi signal strength instructions to test the strength of your Wi-Fi signal.

How will the program charges show on my bill once I’m enrolled?

How the program charges appear on your bill depends on your FPL region. Use our bill resources to learn where to find these details on your bill, what each charge means and how EV charging usage is measured.
