The Florida Public Service Commission has approved a one-month rate reduction for September that will result in about $8 in savings for the typical 1,000-kWh residential customer bill.
This one-time refund stems from a true-up of restoration costs from the historic 2024 hurricane season. Costs were slightly lower than original estimates and revenues from a temporary storm restoration surcharge were slightly higher than originally forecast.
