FPL Budget Billing
The FPL Business Budget Billing Program takes the guesswork out of your
electric bill.

Numbers are for example only and are not intended
to represent actual figures. |
Many things can cause your electric bill to fluctuate over the course of a year, such as
- weather
- production increases
- new electronics or equipment
- etc.
To prevent major fluctuations in your bill, the FPL Business Budget Billing Program evens out your energy costs so you pay about the same amount each month.
There may be months when your FPL Business Budget Billing amount is higher or lower than your actual energy costs. However, when you stay on the program all year, you are able to eliminate the sudden spikes in your monthly operational costs.
Components used to calculate your FPL Business Budget Billing
Three components
are used to calculate your Budget Bill amount, including your
- Actual Bill - the actual bill for the month based on your usage
- Budget Bill - the last 12 months' actual bills for your address
(including the current month) divided by 12.
- Deferred Balance - the difference between the actual bill and the
average bill for the current month. The deferred balance is
placed in your Deferred Balance account each month. It is shown on your
monthly bill as your Budget Bill Deferred Balance and can be
a credit or a debit.
Note: You must be an FPL customer for at least 12 months in order to qualify.
How FPL Business Budget Billing is calculated
Each month 1/12 of your Business Budget Bill Deferred Balance account
is added to (or subtracted from, if it is a credit) the average
bill,
and this becomes your current Budget Bill — the
amount you will be asked to pay each month.
Note: Since the Budget Bills are recalculated
monthly, the bills will vary slightly from month to month.
Are accounts ever reviewed at the end of 12 months or adjusted annually (also known as "trued up")?
FPL Business Budget Billing accounts
will only have to be "trued up" when
- you close your account or
- you discontinue FPL Business Budget Billing or
- FPL Business Budget Billing is discontinued because of a past due bill.
Note: It is very important to keep your account
current to remain in this program.
